The Latest in Texas

The biggest news that we have had in the past month is that we are expecting a little boy in December. We are so excited! Although I have no idea how to handle a boy and Drew and I are disagreeing considerably on names, we can't wait. Mostly we play dress up and go to the pool. You can't stay outside for very long here. The girls faces turn bright red pretty fast.
Drew and I got to go to an Astros game with his company and we got to sit in a box which was such a treat. There was food and a bartender/waiter and cake and ice cream! I don't think I can ever go to a baseball game with the common folk again. :)
If anyone has any ideas on how to keep kids occupied and entertained during the day, suggestions are welcome!!

Such a Sad Day :(

The time has come to cut Darcy's hair. Especially with the heat and swimming everyday it got pretty bird's nest-like. I started cutting the front and when I got to the back I realized just how much I was cutting off. I was kinda depressed for the rest of the day but I think she is more comfortable. It's a good things it's curly too because it hides all the flaws.

FINALLY!!!

Life in Texas is HOT! They have 13 community pools and a couple of water pads that we visit often to escape the heat. I never thought I would miss Utah though but I do! I mostly miss the people and knowing all of my neighbors and having little friends for Darcy to play with. But we are making new friends here it'll just take some time to adjust. More to come soon!

Darcy Turns Three!!!

Last Saturday we had a cute little Tangled themed birthday party for Darcy. We were telling her about it all week so she was getting pretty excited. When the first friend knocked on the door she cried out "FRIENDS!" and was just as cute as can be. I followed the "invite twice as many people as you think will show up" rule because usually only half will come. Not the case here. Everyone but 2 came so there were 19 kids and about 12 adults packed in our tiny apartment. Good times.

Drew traced a big wanted poster of Flynn Ryder for the kids to play "Pin the nose on Flynn". It turned out pretty good. :)

We made mini braids with clips in the end for all the girls.

We also made little jello boats after the scene in the movie where they are obviously on a boat. I got a lot of these ideas from this super cute blog. My photos are a lot more ghetto but I don't think Darcy minded the chincyness.

First Box

So I just packed the very first box to be moved to Texas the on Thursday. It's just baby blankets but still, it was a milestone. I haven't moved in 3 years so this is going to take some time. Wish us luck!

Michael Jackson!!!

We got the Michael Jackson game for Wii and Darcy was actually doing pretty good. But like most of our home videos, it ends with someone crying.

Bryn's 1st Birthday

Wednesday was Bryn's birthday!! i can't believe she is already one year old! She's not quite walking yet but she is talking gibberish a lot and crawls pretty darn fast. Darcy was pretty excited for the cake but she ended up not getting any because she didn't eat her dinner. The video is pretty pathetic because Bryn is eating away at her cake and Darcy is crying her eyes out. I cut the video just short of that. And I don't know why the audio is normal and the video is double time. Oh well, it'll be over twice as fast.

Darcy's meltdown. I did give her some the next day just so you don't think I'm totally cruel.

Sushi!!!

I have been making my own sushi for about 7 years and I'm always looking for something different than the usual California roll I make all the time so I took a sushi class from Chef Joe at the Mt. Fuji Sushi Bar in Sandy, UT. It was really insightful and I learned some new techniques. Plus, I branched out from the usual and make a lot of new rolls last week. Soooo good!!

This is the yummy Vegas Roll that is tempura dipped with salmon, crab, cream cheese and cucumber in the middle.

These are all Drew's creations wrapped in rice paper.

Clockwise : 12 o'clock : California Roll, Mango Mamma Roll, Wasatch Roll, Philly Roll, with a Salmon Nigiri in the middle.

Left to Right, Free for All Roll (all my left over ingredients), Playboy Roll, and a messed up something that still tasted pretty good.

Me holding the bright orange fish roe (tobiko). If you ever want to make sushi, let me know and we'll have a sushi party!

So....it's been a while.

I haven't even logged into my blog for over a year!!! But the girls are getting way too cute to not share with whoever still may be checking in.

Darcy does this semi-creepy smile when you say "Darcy, Don't smile." It started out cute but evolved into this.

Bryn always smiles when she see the light on the camera flash. I can't believe she'll be one in a week!!
