December 02, 2008

if you listen really close you can hear her snorting. I think I'm more excited about this game of "Where's Darcy" than she is.

October 27, 2008

Whenever Darcy sees herself on the computer or in pictures or in the mirror, she gets so excited. And recently she loves to put stuff in her mouth and just leave it there, like washcloths or her sock. I look like I only have half eyebrows. Scary.

Here are some recent pictures of Darcy. I can't believe she is already six months old! She just started sitting up on her own and crawl all in the same week almost so she is much more active and mobile. We can't take our eyes off her because one minute she will be playing with a toy and then the next she is across the room with someone's shoe. It is amazing to watch her grow and learn everyday.

The Sweetest Sound

She has been so giggly lately and we love it. Drew kept on turning so she would have to turn her head to see me and you could tell she was just waiting for me to say "Boo". She is so darn cute I can't even stand it!

She's So Cute!

She's not laughing too much here but she is happy like this most of the time. We couldn't ask for a better baby.

Deep Thoughts...

Do you ever feel like you have to do everything and there is no time to do anything? I feel like that a lot now being in school. I want to do all my homework ahead of time so that I can play with Darcy and do some extra things like sewing or filming things that aren't for a project but I think the house has to be clean before I do anything. I watched a film tonight in my documentary editing class about four marines who have served in Iraq or Afghanistan and their struggles and issues they have with living a normal life after being in combat. I just realized that I have it pretty good and if I don't get my scrapbooking up to date then it's not the end of the world. This is more like a journal entry than a blog post but here it is. I think we can all show more appreciation to those who served in any war because they deserve it and they were and are fighting for us to have a better, safer life, even if there were a lot of mistakes made in the process. So next time you meet a veteran, tell them thanks for their service, I'm sure it will be appreciated.
If anyone is interested in the film it is called Reserved To Fight.
Check out the website for local listings. It is a great story that needs to be told.

Mission Accomplished
Darcy is starting to be a lot more mobile so we have to be extra careful about stuff laying around the house. She would much rather put a pen in her mouth than one of her toys.

More Pictures...finally

I went in to take a picture of her sleeping but she was already awake and gave me the cutest look.

Drew was on a Geology field trip in Wyoming for five days and so Darcy and I were both pretty excited to see him. She loves the camera!

Etre et Avoir

I recently saw this French documentary and it was so enjoyable! Translated it means To Be and To Have. It simply observes the lives of a few children going to a small school in a farming town in France. I would recommend Netflixing it or watching it somehow when you have a free night. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!:)

Drew needs all the help in Physics he can get.

So persuasion won the poll and I have started reading it. I also just checked out the 6 hour long Pride and Prejudice from the library and Drew and I have been watching it over these past few days. Mr. Colins gives me the creeps. But I love everything else. Who doesn't?

Andros Island Bahama Trip

In April, I got to take a Geology class wearing board shorts and flip-flops for the first period and snorkel gear and flippers for the second. We made a trip first to Ft. Lauderdale and Key Largo, Florida, and from there we flew to Andros Island of the Bahamas. It was a class on carbonate systems. We learned about the shallow sea environments where the limestones around us are "born". Tracy was nice enough to let me go with a pact that I'd take her back some day.
A look at the ancient: Brain Coral on Key Largo.

The plane was tiny.

The flat bottom boats that took us where no... ahem... few geologists had gone before.

The unique Ooid sands of Joulters Cay.

Sedimentary structures.

Perfect ripples.

Has anyone seen the Silver Surfer?

Darcy Rolls Over

This video is mostly for family far away...it's long but pretty cute so even if you're not family...she's still fun to watch.

She's All Smiles...most of the time.

I'm not in school right now so when Darcy is asleep I have a lot of time on my hands. These clips are from her first month. In the first clip she was a few hours old and didn't even have a name yet. She's so adorable!

Happy 4th of July!!

I made this feeling very patriotic and grateful for our free country. Hopefully we can all feel patriotic more often, not just in July. Hope ya'll like it.

4th of July

We went to the parade in the morning and it was packed! It was worth it though. I love being able to applaud for the military and veterans that fought for our freedom. What is really neat is that we were able to sit with one. My Grandpa Bill.
